Roma Tomatoes
Unlike a lot of our friends, we like to eat a lot of tomatoes. Unfortunately, it's really hard to find a good tomato around these parts in the winter. This year, I've had luck with Roma (plum) tomatoes, which don't seem to get the mealy texture of larger tomatoes. I'm still looking forward to the Beefsteaks and Big Boys of summer, but Roma's will fill in for now...

Heirloom Tomatos
If you get a chance, trying picking up some heirloom tomatos when they're around this summer. I grabbed some last summer and they were absolutely amazing. We have tons of produce stands that farmers set up where we are here in Jersey and there's some fantastic fresh produce during the summer. Just a few more months!

CSA
Agreed, heirlooms are great. Truth be told, I'd take almost any summer tomato over the stuff in the winter. I was hoping to buy a share in some Community Supported Agriculture this summer, but it looks like there still aren't any very close to us. Bummer.
