I was pleasantly surprised recently by Sony's Customer Service. I have a Sony camera which had a bad CCD, causing it to record a blank screen instead of any pictures. The camera was out of warranty, but apparently this was a widespread problem, and Sony paid for the repair and shipping both ways. The repair was done in just a couple of days. I've been a little anti-Sony lately, after the whole CD rootkit fiasco (and because I'm a Nintendo fanboy), but now I would actually consider buying a Sony camera.
