Yeah, I know... I haven't been very consistent with posts lately. Well, I've had work to do, and have been working on some side projects, so nothing all that exciting has been going on. Sorry... Anyway, I should be implementing some new things soon, and updating some neglected pages (About Me and Pictures).

Alright, so the volume and content of this log are currently lacking. I've been working on the RhoLog and on school stuff, including learning some JavaScript & ASP for my MIS class. I might post them on this site, but right now they're at my Grover site.

I took some time to learn some more about CGI scripts, and modified one to do my bidding... there's a form page on which I can enter items I recently purchased, which submits the info to a cgi file that creates a table of the information. You can see it HERE.

I made another Diddlebug drawing of one of my professors. Unfortunately, Mike did not collaborate with me on this one... You can view it on Page 2 of the Diddlebug drawings. There were getting to be quite a few, so I split them into pages...

As you may be aware, I have been neglecting this log a bit, cause I've been working on the RhoLog. I really like how it's coming along, and I've been learning a lot about CSS and HTML and general site layout and design. Fun stuff. Now if I could just have this much fun with my schoolwork...

Man, I remember the good ol' days when Norm McDonald was doing the weekend update... *sigh*
Anyway, I had a very nice weekend, visiting Heather. Friday we visited her cousins and their little girl (who's going to be our flower girl) and had dinner there. Saturday morning was reserved for cartoons, and then we went to Salem to get some videos from the library and some eats from Taco Bell (mmm... Taco Bell). We borrowed 2001: A Space Odyssey and Hope Floats, which I've put in the Reviews Section. We also got Phenomenon (again), but didn't get to watch it (again). Oh well.
Oh, and I did 2 hours of Data Structures homework. I really should have done more of that earlier in the semester, cause my grade is hurting very badly in there right now, and I'm not sure what I can do about it. Grrrrrr.

So Grove City College decided to install a new site-blocking program. I can deal with that. What I can't deal with, however, is that X-stop (owned by 8e6 technologies) is blocking access to my favorite freeware download site, WebAttack! Grrr.
Supposedly, they have an advanced crawler that subjects sites to all kinds of criteria before putting them on their encrypted blacklist. If that's the case, there's no reason WebAttack should be on there. So, I decide to download and decode the list myself, but alas, there was no WebAttack. So either the college's install is screwy, or they haven't downloaded the daily updated list, which hopefully is fixed.
I miss my WebAttack...

Atari love (and plenty of it)
|
|
During a (brief, of course) study break, I went out to see if I could find the instructions for some of the Atari games... and I found Atari 2600 Nexus. Besides the multitude of game manuals that originally drew me to their site, they have a wealth of Atari 2600 info and news, including links to such things as the AtariMobile and Portable Atari Systems. Mmmm.
And for those who were wondering (here's your ammo, Mike): "Set both difficulty switches to b to begin. Switches in this position will cause fast continuous fire from your submarine. Set switches in a position for slower continuous fire." --quote from the Seaquest manual

This came up on my E-Tour home page when I opened up the browser... Mr. Monkey's Homepage lists various monkey-related information, including a comprehensive list of things that monkeys have appeared in, and a database of references to monkeys on the Simpsons. Um... I like monkeys.
On a related note, when I was at my mock interview session tonight, the (mock) interviewers asked me what animal I would be. My answer? "A monkey... because... I like monkeys... I like those monkey sounds they like... yep, I like monkeys" (the ellipses are pauses, not removed text)

An odd thing just happened. I was trying to figure something out for the new RhoLog Megabook guestbook, and decided to visit Muted.com, since it's listed as an example. As I was browsing through the site, I noticed that the author was also a Senior at GCC... go figure!

I added 3 new diddlebug drawings to the Diddlebug Drawling page. Two of them were enhanced by Mike during MIS, by me beaming them to him and then him drawing and beaming back. You can see the difference cause they're animated. Pretty soon I'm going to have to divide the diddlebug page into multiple pages...

A silly silly thing. I think it should be done away with all together. Seriously. I'm still working on getting the First Come First Served algorithm working for my Operating Systems project, and as soon as I'm at a stopping point with that (okay, well, whenever I get really fed up with it), I have to prepare to be a "librarian" concerned about "cheating in college". Neither of which I am. Worst of all, I have to dress up for it. Grrr. I'll be really happy when this whole "school" thing is over. As long as i have a job. Oh, sweet sweet graduation.

The weekend was nice, as always. I got to go home and visit my family, and of course see Heather. We had a pre-marriage counseling session with the Family Life Pastor. Now we only have 2 more to go... We also picked out the menu for the wedding (which will remain a secret so Eric and Mike won't whine about there being no meat), and got to see the hall again. It's a beautiful place. This morning at church I got to see an old friend from High School, Jeff Catalano. He's planning on going on a 1-year mission trip to Italy with Campus Crusade, and apparently it's pretty costly... so if anyone wants to donate some money, just let me know...

Yesterday, and the day before, I went looking for some CGI scripts to include on this and the RhoLog. I found a ton at The CGI Resource Index, and someone suggested that I go to FreshMeat, where a found a ton of updated stuff. I incorporated a couple of the scripts on the RhoLog (note the sidebar links to the Open Directory and the Schedule script. I'm still looking for a good guestbook, though...

As I was browsing through some random weblogs today, someone had a link to Emode.com, which has a ton of fun little surveys (much like many teen girl magazines have). As an example:
My "true color" is Green
I'm an "eternal optimist"
I'm a Bargain Billy shopper
I'm an Irish Setter
My superpower is Animal Communication
Go figure. For some reason, these rather silly little surveys are addicting. I... must... stay... away...

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you can see the avatar I made for myself at Stor Entertainment. They call these avatars StorTroopers, and you have a wide variety of clothes, hair, accessories, etc. to try on. Pretty neat stuff.
P.S.- I also created a "links open in new windows graphic" in Gimp today, which can be seen above

The reason there haven't been many posts in the last couple of days is that I've been busy updating both this page design and the RhoLog design. I'm really starting to like what they look like, although I'm still trying to get the color scheme I really want. The RhoLog has 3 posters so far (myself included), but I'm still working on getting more, and getting the readership (at least within the Rhos) up.

I've added a new line to the news header of the page, which is a neat little graphic from IMood. It lets me update my mood, and then displays the appropriate graphic in the colors I specify. It's a bit silly, but neat nonetheless. They also take the most used mood for the moment to gauge what the Internet's mood is... (IMood users are: )

As you have no doubt noticed (unless you only read the AvantGo page), there have been some major changes to the index and weblog, the chief change being their combination. I'm still tweaking it, but I like it a lot better already. Please leave comments (especially advice) about the current desiqn & whether I should change the colors!

I'm pretty much hooked on Grey Matter for my weblog, so now I have to figure out what to do about the posts from blogger. From what I've read, the best way to do that is either including archive links using SSI, or by hardcoding those links.

I'm still working on the formatting here... I think I either need to go with a larger sidebar on the left, some dual-sidebar action, or a top-mounted section. The concept page I've drawn up to replace my index features the top-mounted option, so I may end up going with that. I'm still working out the color scheme, but since I'm using cascading style sheets it's pretty easy to bring my whole site over to the same appearance. Please leave comments about the test page!
