Lost Muses
I remember back when I was in middle school, and a friend and I would constantly be writing silly, creative short stories and songs and poems. Not that any of them were that good, but now it seems that I can't even think up anything interesting to write here. It's not that I don't create things anymore... I do it in my head all the time, but usually of a more technical nature. And usually I don't follow through in bringing them to reality, because it's harder to build something than it is to write something down. Is it just a part of growing up that turns creativity towards practical pursuits? Or is it just a realization that it's a better use of my time to work on things that I'm better suited for?

Home automation?
Maybe it's time for a little more home automation...or a new Duplex Cookies album?

Good ideas
Those are good ideas... I haven't really done any automation stuff in this house. I have been planning on building a media or MythTV server, which would be a step towards that. I am actually almost finished with a project, which is exciting -- my Dad and I built a nice speaker cabinet for my guitar amp, and all I have left to do is mount the speakers, stain it, and wire it. I think if I could brush up on my programming and join some OSS project or something, it would help give me an outlet for creativity. I've been trying to work harder at actually writing down and following through on my plans, so we'll see how I've done by next year at this time!
