Dorm Automation Weblog 2001-01-30 I just got done updating the dorm automation pages with some pictures I took last week. I will upload them probably tomorrow (it's a real pain, since I have to ftp everything from a command line). I also realized that I forgot to mention that I finally got the soundcard drivers for my MisterHouse machine (DJMJRMH), so now I can use Text-to-speech and voice-recognition functions, although I scarcely do anything with the VR. I ordered a Hawkeye II Motion Sensor and a cheap lamp module tonight from X10.com with a voucher. I'll also be getting a credit card remote and a super remote for free. Nice. All for under $7, including shipping. posted by David Miller 1/30/2001 02:00:42 AM 2001-01-25 I installed a Keyboard/Video/Mouse (KVM) switch so my MisterHouse (HA) machine can share the keyboard, monitor, and mouse with my main tower. Unfortunately, the MisterHouse machine starts acting up when switching back and forth, and the mouse starts to go crazy. Instead of going back to separate devices, I've decided to use more keyboard shortcuts, and to use VNC when the mouse is necessary (which isn't very often). I moved a couple of sets of lights around to different parts of the room, and found out the pain of renaming one.
